Speech Therapy”, the debut by vocalist Speech Debelle, is an album that makes a mark. Her voice, which is absolutely unique and always seems just about to wear itself out, won over the Big Dada staff as soon as they heard it. She has taken her time and put the finishing touches to her recipe, and very slowly heats up her lyrics (which range from the personal to the political, and are as universal as they are sincere). These sound arguments have attracted other well-known chefs to her kitchen, including Wayne Lotek (with whom she flew to Australia to work in a band format), and Roots Manuva, Micachu and Mike Lindsay (Tunng) and have made her one of the names to watch out for in British rap.
