From Maradona to the paranormal and dreamscapes to taxidermy, the graphic image of Sonar has become, year after year, one of the most anticipated and controversial aspects of the festival.
Far from the clichés traditionally used to introduce electronic culture, Sonar's image seeks surprise, singularity and a distinct sense of humour, not devoid of controversy, that has become the brand and icon of the festival.

Sonar returned to the concept of the family once again - but this time it did so with the festival staff taking centre stage. It featured the hidden faces of the festival office, with the essential Sonar touch (the eyes cut out) for an image half way between surreal and unsettling. An unusual and disconcerting tribute to all those who have made the Sonar dream possible.
