Image2004

From Maradona to the paranormal and dreamscapes to taxidermy, the graphic image of Sonar has become, year after year, one of the most anticipated and controversial aspects of the festival.
Far from the clichés traditionally used to introduce electronic culture, Sonar's image seeks surprise, singularity and a distinct sense of humour, not devoid of controversy, that has become the brand and icon of the festival.

In 2004, the unstoppable Sonar engine went for another mass phenomenon, which is disparaged socially, despite its enormous popularity: the cult of tuning, or the compulsive customisation of the most common small cars. This is a completely surprising and creative subculture, in which young people invest all their money, and dream of making their car into a jewel on wheels. It is light years away from the rules of cool, and avoids clichés once again.
