Image2008
From Maradona to the paranormal and dreamscapes to taxidermy, the graphic image of Sonar has become, year after year, one of the most anticipated and controversial aspects of the festival.
Far from the clichés traditionally used to introduce electronic culture, Sonar's image seeks surprise, singularity and a distinct sense of humour, not devoid of controversy, that has become the brand and icon of the festival.

Experiments based on the hybridisation of human heads and animal bodies are taking in a remote and mysterious laboratory in Mongolia, with the aim of creating a new species of pet. These disturbing tests were filmed in a series of videos that were uploaded onto YouTube and onto the fake website http://www.b1158.cn/b1158.html, and retrieved for Sonar as the image of the 2008 festival.

However, one of these strange creatures, "La Pajarraca", which has a considerable artistic sensitivity and was fed up with minimal techno, managed to escape from the cage in which it had been imprisoned and got as far as participating in the Eurovision Song Contest a few days later.
