While we are holding our breath for the much-awaited third album by LCD Soundsystem (scheduled for release on 18th May), James Murphy has delivered no less than 11 new songs for the soundtrack to the film “Greenberg”, directed by Noah Baumbach and starring Ben Stiller, Jennifer Jason Leigh and Rhys Ifans.
With these new songs, Murphy has moved away from his band's usual sound and composed tracks designed specifically for the film, that inclines much more towards pop and has a clearly retro style. The film's soundtrack also contains songs by Galaxie 500, Duran Duran and The Sonics, among others.
“Greenberg” tells the story of a New Yorker in the middle of an existential crisis, who travels to Los Angeles to spend some time with his younger brother and get things clear in his head.
LCD Soundsystem at Sonar 2010: Thursday 17th June in A Coruña and Friday 18th June in Barcelona.
The film premieres in the United States in late March. See the trailer here...
