  • Hangar

  • Hangar is a centre for artistic production and research founded by the Catalonia Association of Visual Artists (AAVC) in 1997. It supports designers and artists and offers services meeting the production needs of the art world. The centre is based in a restored industrial building in Barcelona's Poblenou neighbourhood. The 1800 m2-space has a capacity for fifteen individual workshops, a medialab, two sets, an equipment hire service, technicians and production advice. Hangar also organises a programme of workshops for training artists, an international exchange programme and provides production grants. The space is subsidised mainly by the Government of Catalonia and Barcelona City Council. It is managed by the AAVC Foundation. Its philosophy, which focuses on production and is based on management by an artists' association, makes Hangar a unique space in Barcelona, and indeed in Europe.

  • Universitat Pompeu Fabra

  • The Pompeu Fabra University Audiovisual Institute is somewhere between the knowledge areas of communication, engineering and cognition, with interdisciplinarity between the three spheres being its raison d'être, and it defines its own space based on creativity, reflection, research and experimentation in aspects related to digital communication media. The Institute sees research as a key factor in the study of technologies and digital media, cognition and human perception, and how this can be incorporated into digital systems. As a result, taking into account the interdisciplinary nature of the IUA, research is conceived in terms of all its aspects, from scientific methodologies to humanities, from the theoretical to the applied aspect. The IUA research groups are the Musical Technology Research Group (MTG), the Research Group on Gestural and Full-body Interaction for Children and Youngsters (GEST), the Cognition and Brain Unit (CBC) and the Synthetic Perceptive, Emotive and Cognitive Systems Research Group (SPECS).
